More and more Burial Authorities are asking for proof of fixing competency from memorial masonry firms.
The BRAMM Fixer Licence provides this proof.
A Memorial Masonry Company must be registered with BRAMM or be in the process of registering, before fixers can be entered for assessment.
The BFL Assessment is only suitable for experienced memorial fixers and will assess a range of skills required for memorial installation, to meet current BS8415 standards, not necessarily using methods used every day.
The fixer licence is obtained by completing both:
- an online Theory Test at home or at work (video link below)
- a practical fixing assessment carried out by a BRAMM Assessor.
Detailed information can be found in our Assessment Information Form and video. See buttons below.
The above may not be your normal method for fixing memorials but, to ensure equality, BRAMM uses this method of fixing on assessments throughout the UK as it tests a variety of skills that may be required during your fixing career. You may possibly need to obtain the correct materials for the BRAMM Assessment.
Once a BRAMM Fixer licence is issued, it is the responsibility of the employer to ensure the fixer completes our free online CPD every 3 years to ensure the licence does not expire. If the licence expires, the fixer will need to take the Fixer Licence Assessment (costs as noted above) to have the licence renewed.
